Explore Bamberg BEERTOWN —
A city bike tour focussing on breweries and beer culture

This city bike tour will take you past the brewery museum, one of the town's malthouses and seven of Bamberg's nine surviving breweries. Cycling is the most pleasurable way to get to know parts of the beer town within and beyond the town centre. Besides classic locations such as the Sandstrasse, home to the most famous of all Bamberg's breweries, you will discover the Königsstrasse, Bamberg's royal road, the Wunderburg, an area with longstanding brewing traditions that are still very much alive today, and the Hain quarter, where many hops merchants built villas in the late 19th century.

You will hear interesting stories about the beer war and the traditions of brewers and maltsters. And you'll find out why people go UP (and not down) to the Bamberg's beer cellars, the famous Keller.

Distance: 18 km, 3 hours
Max. group size: 20 participants
Cost: Group rate: €110

Explore the BEER COUNTRY around Bamberg —
Breweries in the Steigerwald nature park

This guided tour takes us past a total of twelve breweries, eight of them outside of the town. We start in Bamberg's Sandstrasse and use cycle tracks and little-used rural roads that take us through typical Franconian villages, past carp and duck ponds. With a bit of luck, we'll see aurochs grazing in the Aurach valley.

The tour through the Steigerwald nature park takes us through an attractive landscape with pleasant valleys and attractive views from the hilltops of the Steigerwald over to the Hassberge mountains and the Frankenjura. It is also full of taste highlights: we will stop off in a traditional Franconian brewpub and taste one of the regional beer specialities.

Distance: 45 km, 5 - 6 hours including a break
Max. Group size: 20 participants
Cost: Group rate €140 (not including brewery tour, beer sampling, food and drink)

If the 280 meters total ascent of this tour strikes you as overly ambitious, we can leave out one of the breweries and add in a detour of 5 km on the flat.
